Desflurane is a prescription medication used to prevent or reduce pain during surgery. It belongs to a class of drugs called anesthetics, which work by causing you to fall asleep before surgery. Therefore, you should not be able to feel pain during the procedure.

This is a medication that comes as an inhalational liquid. It will be given to you before and during your surgery by a healthcare professional. You will inhale the medicine through a mask placed over your mouth and nose.
